Arm Lift
Conveniently located to serve Tallahassee

Plastic surgery patients choose the arm lift at Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic to reduce excess, sagging skin from the upper arms. Our three board-certified plastic surgeons perform the arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, to give patients a more toned, youthful appearance.

What Is an Arm Lift?

An arm lift involves surgical removal of redundant skin and some fat tissue from the upper arms, which often form due to aging, genetics, or weight loss. The treatment may be combined with liposuction for an even slimmer look. Patients who undergo an arm lift typically want a smoother, firmer arm contour that complements their overall body proportions.

Should I Get an Arm Lift?

An arm lift can benefit patients who are insecure about the loose skin hanging off their upper arms. Brachioplasty is also beneficial for patients who are experiencing physical discomfort due to that loose skin, which can chafe and even limit the kinds of clothes a person can wear.

The procedure is a fantastic option for patients who recently lost a significant amount of weight. Getting rid of excess skin can allow these patients to more easily see the results of their hard work after shedding pounds through diet and exercise.

Candidates who are still losing weight, however, are not encouraged to get an arm lift until they have reached a healthy BMI. The same goes for patients currently experiencing fluctuating body weight due to hormone treatments, medications, or other conditions.

Your Arm Lift Consultation

During an arm lift consultation, the doctor will examine the extra skin on the upper arms. You’ll be asked about your arm-contouring expectations and goals, medical history, and any medications you are taking. The procedure and recovery process will then be explained.

The Arm Lift Procedure

Our Tallahassee, Dothan, Thomasville, Panama City, Destin, and Valdosta patients usually have their arm lift surgery done under general anesthesia. In order to remove the unwanted skin, an incision that runs from near the elbow into the armpit is often required, but other smaller incisions are sometimes possible depending on the amount of skin present. The incision is placed in the most inconspicuous location possible (inner arm toward the back).

In addition to the excision of unnecessary skin, liposuction may also be performed to remove some fat tissue. Once these steps are complete, the incisions are closed with sutures.

After Arm Lift Surgery

Recovery from an arm lift varies, but most patients can expect some swelling and mild discomfort for the first few days. Keeping the arms elevated and wearing a compression garment can help manage swelling and support the healing tissues. Light daily activities can usually be resumed within a few days, but strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks. Full recovery typically takes a few months, with final results becoming more noticeable as swelling subsides.

The arm lift recovery process helps patients adjust to their newly contoured arms and experience the full benefits of the procedure. Many patients report feeling more comfortable in their clothing and having greater confidence when wearing short-sleeved or sleeveless outfits. The improved arm contour achieved through brachioplasty often leads to an overall boost in self-confidence and satisfaction.

Benefits of Brachioplasty

  • Removes sagging skin from the upper arms
  • Improves arm contour for a more toned appearance
  • Enhances comfort in clothing, including sleeveless styles
  • Boosts self-confidence and body image
  • Can be combined with liposuction for enhanced results

How Much Does an Arm Lift Cost?

The cost of brachioplasty depends on anesthesia fees, exact techniques used (such as liposuction), and other patient-specific factors. We can calculate the final price of your treatment during your initial consultation.

Arm Lift FAQs

Will there be visible scars after an arm lift?

There will be minimal scarring after arm lift surgery, typically along the inner or back part of the upper arm. However, they usually fade over time and can be minimized with proper post-surgical care.

How long do arm lift results last?

Arm lift results are long-lasting, especially when patients maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. However, natural aging may gradually lead to some loss of skin elasticity over time.
